4 Steps to Avoid Media Overwhelm When Buying a Home (& In General!)

Avoid Media Overwhelm

“I am overwhelmed.” Have you told yourself this lately? In the world we are living in right now, it is hard not to feel that way. When you say you are overwhelmed, you are inviting yourself to be just that: overwhelmed. That feeling of overwhelm is a state of being, not who you are. You have likely heard the phrase: “your thoughts become words, your words become actions, your actions become who you are.” Your self-talk does more than affect your confidence; it may actually be rewiring your brain.

When we think about buying or selling a home (or making any decision) these days, we want to be well-informed. We scour the internet for any information we can find. We want to make the right decision for ourselves and our families.

Here is an easy four-step process to follow if all of this information becomes overwhelming:

1. Take a Deep Breath and Center Yourself – Don’t let the conflicting information confusion you or lead to panic or concern.

2. Get Clear & Think– Remember the reasons you wanted to move in the first place. Are they still important? Make a list of all the things that are essential to you in buying your new home and don’t compromise.

3. Weed Out Misinformation– Determine whether or not the new information you’ve learned about online or in the media should change anything about your home buying decision. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding the housing market at all, reach out to Alex at Delphi Realty for a better understanding (925) 705-1300.

4. Make a Plan and Act– After thorough consideration, make sure you feel confident about your decision and move forward with it.

It’s important to realize that nothing is as important as your health and wellbeing. It’s easy to succumb to the pressures of media overwhelm, as well as the stress and anxiety. Take your time, focus on your priorities and use a realtor you trust to ensure long lasting happiness in your new home.
